That was a really long and drawn out way of saying: "It was almost different! But in the end they were both traded for the exact same return!"
The difference you're trying to point out is entirely insignificant. Either way, the two 2nd's were on the table and were the most likely return. The Penguins weren't betting on dropping out of the playoffs early, they were a powerhouse.
