Jones Vs. Tanguay:
Calgary has played the most 1-goal games in the league this year, largely because of their effort and consistency in regards to line changes, offsides, icings and neutral zone responsibility. Being focused and playing with character in all three zones has kept Calgary in many games they shouldn't have been in this year, but more importantly, has prevented confidence shattering, hair pulling blowouts on a routine basis.
Tanguay is awful in terms of all those attributes listed. Consistently going offside, consistently lollygagging to the bench, consistently irresponsible in the neutral zone
Calgary flames hockey was unwatchable last year until the deadline when things got broken up. After that, though, Tanguay was still a noticeable sore thumb in the lineup in the same way Glencross was to start this season. 1 Player out of 23 playing a different game than the rest of the team. A player who gets his points at the price of winning games or appearing competitive.
Down by 2, with the opposition sitting back protecting a lead? Tanguay is your guy.
Push the pace from minute 1 to minute 60? I'd take Jones 10/10.
I look at the Oilers and I see a team full of Tanguays.
