All of these single goal losses certainly aren't a huge negative for a club in the first year of a rebuild. I do not condone losing whatsoever and always cheer for a W but these close losses to good teams really are the best case scenario for us. Especially to teams like Pittsburgh and Boston, who act as a measuring stick for the Flames.
They give the young guys on the team confidence that we can play with elite teams when we consistently work hard and also indicates we aren't as bad as our record shows (which is a nice bonus come draft lottery time.)
Hopefully all of the 3rd period collapses this season acts as a lesson for the kids going forward as well.
