Move over or make a gap that allows traffic to merge. Both motorists have equal rights in this situation. How do I know this? There used to be a goddam SIGN on NB Macleod where Bannister rd merged that explained how merge lanes work.

The conversation isn't about merging though. That is the right/courteous thing to do at a merge.
We're talking about cars that are stopped (either at a stop sign or red light) and waiting to make a right turn on to the road you're on. Do you move into the left for them? I think that's courtesy beyond reasonable expectation.
