G2 has the power and volume buttons in the back instead of on the side as per usual and the G2 has a 5.2 screen over the 4.95 for the N5. Bigger battery in the G2 as well (3000 vs 2300).
The thing that sold me on the N5 was the simplicity. Updates right away and pure Android. No LG UI or any carrier crap. Just pure Googleness. We have already had 2 updates to KitKat which was nice to be able to get easily and without any carrier interference or waiting.
My battery life has been pretty good with the N5 as well. A couple of tweaks here and there, but it's been lasting all day without issue. Google does promise 18 months of updates as well to each of their Nexus devices so I'll still be getting updates right up until it's time to trade in for a new phone. That was the deciding factor for me. No ROM's or anything to load. Pure stock, updated ASAP.

I just made the switch to android from an iphone 4, do you mind if ask what battery tweaks you did to make it last longer? I put a custom Rom on there, but from there i'm not sure what to do to get it to last all day.
