Big trucks can't stop on a dime. When the light turns yellow, they have to keep going if they can't stop the front of the truck behind the line. However, it's the BACK end of the trailer that has to clear the intersection. Since they are turning, they can't go quickly, like most other vehicles can. It's not really surprising that the other direction is sometimes green for a few seconds before the truck clears the intersection. That very rarely means that the truck driver ran the red light.
Some of you should try to drive a long vehicle before to criticize how they drive. Some things seem weird, but are done simply out of necessity.
It isn't like trucks are the only people that try to turn left way after the light turns, either.

I work for a trucking company, I know to usually cut them slack. But this one was bad. The light turned red when the guy in front of him had just started going. He cleared, we started to go, then another guy pulled in front of us who could've easily stopped.
