I don't know what percentage of hockey fighters train in MMA, but I do know that of any gym that I have worked out at, I have yet to see an active NHLer. Not to say that some do not train, but what is the point? The weight training side of MMA, yes absolutely many NHLers are active in, but the majority of this training can take place outside of the typical MMA gym. Rolling with guys on the ground and actively sparring is probably limited. But what do I know. If they want to be a better hockey fighter, I would think boxing is the way to train, not MMA.
Lucic on the street would be bad news because anyone dumb enough to pick that fight probably has other people dumb enough to do stupid things. A sucker punch or weapon could easily end Lucic's career. Or he could be facing someone that can complete a takedown, now Lucic is getting his shoulder torn up.
