Didn't they say last year it has something to do with the digital ads?
I work in broadcasting (radio, mind you, not TV - so take these words with a huge grain of salt) and here's my guess. They run the video feed on a delay so the graphics guy can put up the digital elements you often see on the glass in either end without it just suddenly appearing after they have already been in the zone for 2 seconds. But the audio feed comes through separately and I imagine they haven't figured out an effective way to delay the audio to match the play exactly, or they just don't care to.
Again, I don't work in TV but have some minimal experience and that's all based on something I saw where they said it was based on the digital ads (can't remember if I read that on this forum or where - it was about a year ago).
