I'll decide how I feel about this when a direction is taken.
But thank you Feaster/Weisbrod for spearheading the group that drafted players like:
- Baertschi - Poirier
- Gaudreau - Klimchuk
- Gillies - Granlund
- Monahan - Wotherspoon
- Sieloff
Fortunately the scouting staff who deserve most of the credit for these picks are still around. Weisbrod had a big hand in the 2012 draft so Gillies and Sieloff are largely to his credit.
I liked how Feaster ran a democracy where everyone got a say; it helped build the prospect pool. I hope this type of atmosphere isn't lost under Burke..
Feaster also got valuable players while spending minimal assets in:
- Hudler - Stempniak
- Wideman - Knight
- Russell - Smid
- Galiardi - Cammalleri
- Colborne - Billins
Feaster cleaned up Sutter's mess and now he's set up a clean slate for someone to step into a GM position in a Canadian market where owners will spend to the cap. Even more gravy is we have a ton of cap space available and a lot of teams don't have much so we are in a position of strength. Plus we have a good prospect base to work with. Not to mention the likely top-5 pick this year..
Who ever takes over is going to reap the rewards of Feasters labours. But part of me understands this may be a good thing so long as the key pieces Feaster brought here aren't moved since the new guy won't have any allegiances to any of them...
Excited and nervous at the same time!
