Sutter got the Flames to contender status but he left Jay with an aging roster, no prospects ready to step in, and little cap room. King wanted someone who was going to keep trying to win with Iggy and Kipper until the final year of Iggy's deal. Feaster nearly locked up Brad Richards to a cap hell contract and the O'Rielly fiasco. He did manage to add solid prospect depth, make a good trade for Cammy, and sign solid UFA's in Hudler and Wideman.
Jay basically managed this team to the ground but was dealt a pretty rough hand. The Regehr, Iginla, Bouwmeester trades all underwhelmed at first glance. Intellectual Honesty, "find another GM if you want a rebuild" etc.
I think Brian Burke is highly respected, knowledgable, and very hard working. I feel like the Flames are in better hands moving forward. I no longer fear Stajan is going to be re-signed. I do think Sven could be dangled in a trade this year in a package for O'Rielly, or Kane
