I'll admit, I've done it with that crappy xmas gift that I didn't want and took it to the place that I would get the best price for it.

Just to add: I think people are missing the part on Wal Mart's return policy that anything over $25 will be issued in-store credit. They are just exchanging products for products, in the end they still get your money in some form or another

No they don't. He just swapped something He didn't buy there, and didn't want, for something that they stock that he does want.

Walmart didn't get any money out of him, and he is getting something of greater value (either direclty becasue he gets a better return price, or indrectly becasue he's got something useful).

Walmart, or any retailer for that matter, is in the retailing business, not the barter business.
