Adult Cyber-Bullying / Cyber-Harrassment / Cyber-Stalking
I wanted to bring up a subject which isn't discussed much in public but perhaps is something that is becoming more prevalent and might have affected you at one point - Cyber-Harassment.
With the prevalence of Twitter, Facebook, & instagram in our lives, we leave ourselves open to jealous women (men if you are female) who follow us or are on our friends list. Perhaps people we have dated in the past are still on our facebook or follow us on twitter / instagram and we communicate with them from time to time. And perhaps we don't know these people are bats**t crazy until its too late.
Personal Story:
Recently I was at a Christmas party with a new woman I have started dating. (We dated 10 years ago and recently picked up where we left off). We took a picture together and I posted it on Facebook and she tagged herself in it.
Not 30 minutes after that picture was posted, I get a weird text message from a woman I hung out with 2 times (last time we hung out was at the end of August & I didn't kiss her, Didnt even hold hands with her). She immediately starts asking questions about the new woman, asking who she is etc etc. Then he text messages start getting more angry and alluding to the fact she thought I liked her.
She really started getting crazy in her texts and I am worried she is going to try and message the woman I am dating on facebook to try and screw things up perhaps in a libelous manner.
I am looking for some feedback from people in law enforcement / lawyers if this would be grounds for a criminal complaint if she did message my new girlfriend and tried to screw things up for me.
I hear about jealous exes messaging new boyfriends / girlfriends on facebook all the time and creating drama and breaking people up. If this isn't already a criminal offence, I am hoping eventually it becomes the law.
Cyber-Bullying affects adults and I am hoping standards change so that people grow up!
Also interested to hear other people's stories
Thoughts?
