Hopefully the team does a thorough search and hires the best candidate and doesn;t just promote the guy a little lower on the totem pole or the GM's best buddy. It would be nice to have a quality coach in here not someone who is there because of connections.

First of all, I lol'd at the middle initial remark. Secondly, I agree that Hartley is one of the worst possible choices to be currently coaching this team. Third, I agree I thorough search is needed, but at the same time think that a young coach that knows how to work with young players is what this team needs for their next coach and Mr. Ward is both of those things. He's also had some decent results in the AHL with some pretty terrible teams, and this season some great results with a better team, granted, but far from a power house.
He might not be the best choice, but given what I know about him and what I think the team needs, I think he would certainly be a top candidate, at the very least. I just hope if and when Hartley is canned we don't see another old fossil from yesteryear brought in to try and develop a young team. Unless his name is Darryl Sutter, I'd be OK with that.
