Also, if the Rangers want to give away Brad Richards and chip something in, I would take him.
He's still a 60 point center and a good leader. He would be a good mentor for all the kids coming up. Yes he makes 6.67 for the next 6 seasons. That is a lot right now in terms of cap, but in 3 years, that'll look a lot more like a 5 million dollar contract. Plus the last 3 years he only makes 1 million dollars each year. That will make him very very attractive to teams looking to hit the floor but don't want to spend a lot.
If we move Cammalleri out, which I really hope we do in terms of the rebuild, getting Richards off the Rags would replace that presence on the team and would be a better player than the other UFA guys. It's also not like we are anywhere near the cap, and are not likely going to be near it any time soon.
