Russell is only 26. While it is possible that he could regress after this season, it seems unlikely. He is the age when defenders start to put their game together. Even if he takes a small dip in production or effectiveness next season, it is more than likely that he will continue to improve or at least maintain his current level of play in the next four to five years. Highly unlikely that the Flames could recoup his value in a trade, especially if you add in the draft pick they already used to get him.
