Last week I had terrible abdominal pain, no appetite, and threw up. Assuming it was stomach flu, I told my husband to sleep in the guest room so he wouldn't get my germs. I was all alone and in pain for hours, not sleeping a lot. My husband got me to call Healthlink eventually, which I agreed to do as I'm also 8 weeks pregnant and knew I was dehydrated and should probably have an IV and some nutrition getting into me. The Healthlink nurse advised me to go to the ER even though I think we both just suspected stomach flu - but when you are pregnant and have abdominal pain of any kind, I think their system tells you to get checked out ASAP.
It turned out to be appendicitis, and it was already perforated. My baby and I could both have easily died, and quickly. Maybe when I was lying in our room all alone in pain. I'm still getting over the shock of it.
Anything can happen. We have to do our best to enjoy the now. I'm glad you're okay Hesla - don't beat yourself up about your choices.
