Yeah and I get that. My point wasn't that Morrison or Jackman were worth anything more than they got in the end, my point was that the Flames probably could have gotten a little more for both players had they not held on to them too long.
Morrison's 43 points in 66 games was pretty impressive for where he was in his career. Maybe Calgary gets 4th round pick pick to go along with an AHL player. Instead they held on to him because they thought they could make the playoffs, missed the show, and brought him back the next year where he was a shell of his former self and traded him for a one dimensional AHL player.
Jackman signs an extension when teams start asking about his availability. Maybe Calgary gets a 4th instead of a 6th if Calgary cuts its loses and trades him before the deadline instead of signing an extension.
