essentially they are due for a big jump, they have been unlucky (in the sense that a month ago people were saying the leafs had been lucky and they have crumbled)

It does look like the Canucks MAY be able to overtake Phoenix and nab a wildcard spot. But if I'm the Canucks I am not seeing that as anything to hang my hat on. Even if they make the playoffs, they do not look like a competitive team right now and they are tied into this same group for a long time. There are definite similarities to the Flames just before they started missing the playoffs.
