SN has the regional broadcast rights, so when the game is on SN-W it's blacked out and I don't get it.
Next year, if the game is on SN-W, I'll get to see it, even if it's on a Tuesday or Thursday?
I would have assumed no, but if the NHL.com statement is true it appears not.
Which raises an interesting point, that means the Flames (and other Canadian teams with SportsNet) will now be getting national audiences. This would mean more advertising dollars for SportsNet (at least a bigger potential audience). All while paying regional fees to the league/teams. That doesn't seem fair, would that be a fundamental change to the contract? I wonder if the regional rights contracts with the teams (teams or league?) allows the network to show them nationally if the league agrees? Ok my eyes are closing, hopefully this gibberish is close to English.
