I'm not sure if this is joke post but I think it's bc it's always on the same day, Thursday. Most people take off Wed and Friday so they get a 5 day weekend to go spend with their families. Christmas here you get Half day on the 24 th and a full day on Christmas then you go back to work on the 26th.
