Well yeah, but if you're using it, the battery should last quite a few years. Eventually all cars are going to wear out. Heck, maybe you are grounded because of the tires, or other maintenance problems.

I guess what I'm saying is the biggest problem you'd have is with the gasoline. (EDIT: Finding it, storing it, making sure it doesn't gel) No way around that one. Eliminating the need for that, would conceivably buy you some time.
