Interesting article from Andy Strickland. Not just from a Blues standpoint, but for us as Flames fans. Sheds some light on how a "good" rebuild still took an awful long time to start paying off.

I remember a conversation with former St. Louis Blues great Keith Tkachuk just after the 2006-07 season ended. We were sitting at the Hardee's Iceplex in Chesterfield, and Tkachuk had just finished the season with the Atlanta Thrashers following a trade deadline deal.
Before the conversation ended -- and out of nowhere, it seemed -- Tkachuk said, "The Blues will win the Stanley Cup in seven years."

It's interesting to see that even with St. Louis aggressively going after early round draft picks, the process has taken 6-7 years for the team to reach the point where they're truly competing for a cup.
