Even if CBC had kept the broadcast rights, the increase in broadcast fees would mean less profit for CBC. That's bad for Canadians, because we're all effectively CBC shareholders. (Rogers shareholders, though, may net positive.)

So what's in it for CBC? They must be paid something. Or at least keep commercial revenue...
