I'd like to either Backlund or Colborne shifted to the wing, and if it's Backlund I see no reason why he can't be an excellent two-way defensive winger like Marcus Nilson was for us. Good speed, good puck skills, got a fiestyness to his game when he's on, has some flash but not enough for top 6 role.
It seems like you can't become that player with the team that drafted you though. Draft expectations leads to trades if they're not meet. Nilson's NHL career was cut short by that knee injury tough, was a shadow of himself after that. Still, before that he was a greatly effective player for the Flames.
A lot of parallels there actually.

i just feel that even if the flames feel he is a 3rd line winger type player, the backlund camp may be more interested in seeing what free agency brings.
