They are both producing virtually identical numbers so far this season....main difference being that Colborne has played 60 less total minutes than Backlund so far this season, and Colborne has only played 37 NHL games to Backlund's nearly 200.
Given their pedigrees, and experience levels, Backlund should be head and shoulders ahead of Colborne right now IMO, not neck and neck with him....add in the fact that Colborne is a big body as well, and I can see why the Flames would choose to move forward with Colborne over Backlund.
