If you look at all of the other members of the tribe, they've all committed fairly serious sins. What if the tribe is evil, and the others are good and offering redemption.
It goes back to the whole they're in pergetory theory and they have to be redeemed to get out.
It also explains Walt shooting Anna Lucia, since she has been fairly brutal throughout the whole time she's been there.

I see it almost the opposite way. I think the survivors have all been through some sort of Tramua that wasn't neccesarily their fault or they were almost forced into it. Kate killed her Dad but she isn't really the cold blooded murderer she was originally made out to be. Michael had Walt taken away from him, Jack had his wife leave him, Locke thought he had his Dad back only to have a kidney taken from him and then get abandoned, Sawyer had his issue with has parents as well. Seems like all the survivors went through something or did something awful that wasn't neccesarily their fault. I don't know exactly why they are all there but I almost think they are there because of the "injustices" that have happened in their lives.
What I can't figure out is how all their lives are so intertwined. Really looking forward to the next 3 weeks of episodes though. Just ****ed off I have to wait for next fall to see the next season.
