We play each eastern time 2 times per season (at least the majority). Cut that in half and you still play each team 1 time a season. It will alternate home/away games year to year (which is what the NHL format used to be).
This means less traveling for all teams and therefor less jet lag and better quality of hockey.
I'm done trying to explain this to people who won't do a minute of research and instead just put words in my mouth.

Almost every fan values seeing every team in their building every year more than reducing travel slightly. You sir are definitely in the minority with your viewpoint that you'd like to see less teams live every season. Perhaps you aren't a ticket holder and thus don't understand the point of view of season ticket holders?
