We'd likely have to ship them a RW to fill in, which means Backlund and Stempniak for Connolly/Panik and Purcell. Tampa might have to kick in a sweetener, like Dylan Blujus, a big right handed defenseman, but I think the potential is there considering their position. It is nice to have both the cap space and the contract flexibility to make some of the imbalanced deals.
Purcell is too good to be a simple cap dump from Tampa's perspective ... he's a solid top 9 guy. If Calgary or any other team eats a contract, it will be Ryan Malone for sure. He earns 4.5/year for another year after this one ... horrible contract for what he brings to the ice. He's on a line with Nate Thompson and BJ Crombeen all the time, and Tampa prefered calling up JT Brown for top 9 minutes instead of promoting Malone ... that's really all you have to know about Malone right now.
