Because of those bad type goals he became the whipping boy of Flames fans. First it was his mother who stopped coming to games and then later it was his father. ST holders were really hard on Mike and his parents couldn't stand the booing he got.
If he didn't make a couple of huge saves in OT of game 7 against the Canucks in 1989 the Flames would have no Stanley Cups. It goes both ways.
