Mike Vernon was famous for letting in bad goals at the wrong time. It was game 7 of the 1990 playoffs against the Oilers. Flames are up 3-0 and the Dome is so loud you couldn't hear yourself think. Tikkanen skates over center ice and fires one at Vernon with the puck going in between his legs. The Dome goes quiet and you could hear a collective gasp of here we go again. Oilers bank one in off Flames d man Frank Musel to win in OT.

Because of those bad type goals he became the whipping boy of Flames fans. First it was his mother who stopped coming to games and then later it was his father. ST holders were really hard on Mike and his parents couldn't stand the booing he got.
