Most everything I've read the last day or so mentions that the aspirations Microsoft have this console are truly rooted in the potential in the (not too far away) future. It's going to be an interesting console war for reasons that many weren't expecting a couple of years ago. Two completely different visions of the living room experience.

Which is great. PS4 is going after the pure gamer, which is a market that will always be there and one that they know well. Microsoft is going after the moderate gamer crowd, who's as interested in the total home entertainment experience as much as the games themselves. They aren't there yet, but the pieces in place are promising and if they get it right I could see myself picking one up
Of course this isn't factoring in the Steam Box, which seems to be trying to go after both markets. I really hope Valve makes a strong entry to make the console wars a true 3 horse race again after Nintendo went the pure casual gamer route
