Both consoles have the exact same CPU, with slightly different clock speeds. They both use AMD GPU's, but PS4 has the more powerful version (by a 50% margin). The biggest difference though is the memory. Both consoles have 8GB, but the PS4 uses DDR5 which is over twice as fast as the Xbox One's DDR3
So basically both consoles are the same in terms of development difficulty, but the PS4 has more resources for games to tap into. So when you say that developers will optimize the Xbox One hardware (which they will), those optimizations will carry over directly to the PS4 as well. It will always have an advantage over the Xbox One regardless of what developers do with it
You're already seeing the evidence of this with cross platform launch titles that look better and run smoother on the PS4. You might see the graphics gap close, but the PS4 will always have the better Anti-Aliasing and framerate, which makes a big difference

I'm not a tech expert at all but I've read enough articles from people who are and they do not make claims such as those that you are making.
In fact...I read an article where XB1 engineers figured out a way to run the memory or whatever faster than it is on the PS4....the number was like 792 vs 786 or something.
So i wouldnt read a whole lot into this media-posted specs as the XB1 has changed a lot since they originally announced in the way that it performs ... when it all comes down to it...it is the processor that is the most important component...
Microsoft engineers arent idiots...Microsoft has arguably the best engineers of any company in the world...they know the technologies better than all of us and all of the people that review the Xbox One product...Obviously they dont seem to think that their console is at a severe disadvantage to the PS4 over the next few years as you dont seem to see them running to change the parts...Microsoft could have easily put the same components as the PS4...its not that hard to put in a bunch of Hardware.....
Android phones have the best and the highest hardware specs...more than Apple..
Yet...Apple iPhones run at a higher efficiency rate than their competitor phones on the market....
If the OS of the PS4 and the XB1 were the same and how the 2 consoles allocate their resources the same then you could say that the PS4 will definitely be better. BUT...Ive also read an article where it says the Kinect uses a ton of resources on the launch system but once Microsoft gets it to use less...it will be perfectly fine...
only ppl who care about this kind of crap are gaming nerds. I feel kinda stupid arguing with people who have their head stuck in the sand.
It feels like Microsoft vs iPhone all over again.
Microsoft has learnt from their mistakes and Sony has now made a big one in the way they are marketing their machine and targeting their market.
