Still agree with you though. He seems to approach the game very methodically and learning how to use the body in the NHL compared to junior is just another step he seems to be making. He's not making big hits but I am starting to see him kind of rubbing guys out more.

I also recall that he weighed in around 200lb's to start the season. This was a big reason why he wasn't sent back to junior. He's a centerman who already has the proper build to be successful in the NHL. I would be SUPER impressed if he's doing as well as he is weighing 20lbs less than his competition.

I'm not against sending him to Junior as it's never a bad thing to stomp the best players your age. He will get more international experience, recognition and have enjoyed an exciting, fresh tournament.

At the end of the day I think coaching should let Monahan decide. If it means a lot to him than it's not fair of management to keep him. This can become a great relationship builder for Monahan and the Flames.
