Gaudreau's actually in a situation that is favourable to the Flames. We have his rights until August 15, 2015.
If Gaudreau wants to play NHL hockey soon, he's going to sign with the Flames. It's as simple as that.
If he doesn't want to sign with the Flames, we have 2 years to trade him. However, Gaudreau has shown no signs that he's even thinking about that.

Agree on Gaudreau, but your not understanding the cba.
Erixon was playing on Sweden, not chl. He therefore could be a free agent after we were unable to sign him. CHL players can't do that. End of story
