I noticed on Sportscentre this morning that the "Insider" Bob McKenzie stated that it's unlikely the Flames make Monahan available for the WJC in December.
I was quite surprised by this, and I'm not sure that I either understand or agree with the team rationale. Other than the risk of injury, what are the downsides in letting him go and possibly be part of a championship team? Obviously, his absence for a couple of weeks will have zero impact on this team's playoff chances. So what's the objection? Will he pick up bad habits playing at a lower level?
I'd be interested in what the majority opinion would be on this issue. Perhaps a poll?
