A third line center is probably a more valuable position then wingers on the 2nd line and it's a position I really value. It's why I always cringe when I see people say Backlund is just turning into a third line guy. The way he plays defense, like Knight can, could be very valuable to his NHL team.

just a third line centre also

He doesn't get mentioned often for his contribution to the Flames cup win, other than his OT goal versus Vancouver in game seven, but winning the cup in '89 would have been much more difficult without him if even possible.
