I just don't get why some people think that skilled rookies should be held to a low standard. If you accept a standard lower than what you think a player is capable of, then you end up developing the player to that standard.

Whether he is right or wrong, Hartley clearly thinks that Baertschi is capable of more than what he is giving. If he truly believes that, then he shouldn't accept anything less from him. The last thing we want our developing prospects to think is that 'good' is good enough.

Seriously, if Hartley believes that Sven is not trying as hard as he should; how helpful would it be in the long run to reward him with top line ice-time just based only on skill?
