Well, no real news here at all. I actually expect all of them to be shipped off.

Tampa needs defence and perhaps a bit of help on offence with Stamkos out (though defence is their priority apparently). I don't think there is anything on the defensive side of things that the Flames could help them out with unless they want to ship out Russel. O'Brien, Butler and Smith wouldn't be too attractive to them - though I do think Butler has the most value out of the three. Don't think the Flames are really willing to trade any of the top 4 + Smid.

Stempniak + Butler to Tampa for Kucherov? I would be happy with that, though I doubt that gets it done.

St. Louis is apparently thinking about getting an offensive winger. Nashville needs offensive help. Pittsburgh is always making deadline deals.

I actually think as long as Stempniak keeps producing moderately, he will be one of the more attractive pieces on the Flames, especially for a team looking to make a move soon. Cammalleri might be the biggest offensive piece available this deadline - unless the Islanders put Vanek back on the block. Gaborik is probably the next best bet - but if I am a contender, I would prefer Cammalleri's history in the playoffs, and ability to play all 3 forward positions.

I will be happy if the Flames add another 1st this year along with 2 seconds. One 1st + 2 seconds give you the flexibility to jump up the draft and pick the guy you are targeting. Flames have a fairly deep prospect pool at the moment, but are still light on blue-chip prospects. Having a high pick + a mid-range pick can go a long way in helping to correct that.
