No issue with what Ference did, and kudos to Stempniack for standing up for himself. Problem is the Flames didn't do anything about it. Someone should have gooned Ference later in the game, and given they didn't, Ference better get pounded by someone in the next meeting, this supposedly tight team needs to check their commitment to each other at this point.

When Ference did it 10 years ago, the motivation is exactly what many posters are saying is a huge deficiency for the team. We loved it because he was standing up for his teammates.
Ference kicked the snot out of Stillman after Stillman cheap shotted Nilson earlier in the series.
In this scenario, Ference is Stillman and there isn't a 'Ference' to be found on the Calgary squad.
It's an interesting personnel problem, because guys that can actually play as well as play assertively, don't grow on trees.
If you're Lee Stempniak this morning, how do you feel about the organization and your teammates after getting tuned up in consecutive nights? Probably not good.
