I echo the sentiments of posters wanting the Flames to keep him past this year. The question is, does Lee Stempniak want to be a continued part of the rebuild or does he want to try his luck on a team that has a better chance of making some noise in the playoffs? Can't blame him if he leaves after this year but I sure would like to see him around. He is a veteran that will be helpful to this young team.

I don't think he gets much of a choice.
He had 1 goal and 1 assist in 8 games (-3) down the stretch in 2011-12 when the Flames had to go 500 to make the playoffs.
Stempniak won't be part of the Flames or any other teams playoff strategy.
I was shocked the Flames gave him a 2 year deal after that. It was basically Feaster panicking on trying to sneak into the playoffs.
He calls the team out after he was the team's worst forward with a -3. Kinda of rich.
Imagine the up roar we would have if the -4 Butler would have stood up after the game and said the team just has to play better.
