Backlund had 4 points in the 7 games when Stajan was injured. Although he did not hit the scoresheet often he was definitely very involved in the offence as evidenced by his 20 shots on goal in those 7 games. Stajan has only 14 shots in 11 games including 5 in last game when the game was out of reach. Backlund has only averaged about 11 minutes again since Stajan returned or would have had several more points than Stajan. Their ppg average is almost identical when given the same icetime this year. I would keep a 24 year old with potential versus a soon to be 30 year old that continues to get pushed of the puck easily anyway. Their is no logical rationale to keep Stajan in a rebuilding team, although I do believe you need some role models such as a Camalleri, Hudler and Glencross.
