Versteeg absolutely needed to go. Itīs not that he is not skilled enough for Florida (of course not). But Florida has a core of very young guys at the moment and Versteeg was one of the veterans on that team and lacked commitment, right attitude and work ethic. Just a really bad example of a veteran guy and what he should be like for the young guys.
Obviously itīs not a very good deal for Florida but if you look at the deal from a value perspective it also says where Versteegīs value had sank. Change of scenery and a smaller role will probably help him though. |
