JPA's bat will not play at either of those spots. The only reason he managed to make the big leagues was on the basis of being a catcher. If you move him from the position of highest defensive value to the positions with little/no defensive value then he's probably a Double A level player on the basis of just his batting skills (or rather lack thereof).
JP's got power but that's it. Can't hit for contact, isn't an above average fielder, can't (or won't) take a walk, doesn't work the count. Someone said it earlier JP is an opposing pitchers dream... all you have to do is not hang a pitch over the heart of the plate and he'll get himself out and he won't even make you burn much into your pitch count.
