So, normally when categories are closely contested, we try to spread the awards around. If there are very obvious "best in category" choices and nothing else comes close, we have no issues handing out multiple awards to a team.

This should be encouragement for posting your nominations, even if you don't think you can win a category. If you are close, you might win as the "runner up" in a category.


That being said, this week was clear domination by LA and Nashville in their respective categories:

Player - O'reilly (LAK) - Just edged out Hossa by an assist but also earned 5 3-star nominations in 5 games. No-brainer, even with the biased awards committee.
Defenseman - Special guest star Karlsson (PIT)
Goalie - Ward (LAK) - only 3 nominations and the other 2 never came close to Ward's outstanding performance
Rookie - Hayes (NSH) - almost a PPG compared to the otherwise weak showing of nominations
Unsung - Fiddler (NSH) - PPG pace when all others in the category struggled to score at all.


Poster - Cheese




Next week we'd like to see at least half the league post their nominations. Now that Karlsson is out, everyone has a chance at D-man of the week!
