With the current group of forwards, games like this are inevitable and will happen.
The reason is you can't have 3-5 players carry the team every single night, they get tired you know.
There's to many passengers on this team right now as I've been saying all along.
Good game by Reto Berra, what more can you ask for? Good game by Kris Russell as well.
Good to get Stempniak back, he was the screen on Kris's goal and on the PP right after that one he was in front of the net again and the Flames almost scored there as well.
The Flames have to many forwards right now that simply refuse or are unwilling to go to the net.
Jones, Galiardi, Backlund and Baertschi.
Sven had a good scoring opportunity but decides to hotdog like he's at a shinny game rather than shoot the puck.
Come on Sven, you're a player on the Calgary Flames in the National Hockey league.
For the people always complaining about coach Hartley playing favorites, he had Backlund and Baertschi out there in the final minute of OT. He put those guys on the spot right there.
Mikael Backlund, team worst -2 and 3rd least ice time among all forwards with a measly 11% face off percentage. He simply needs to be better.
The good news is the Flames got a point out of this game and I would expect a much better outing from everyone here next game.
