I agree about the nameless characters getting killed off not being very tense. In fact, when they brought in all those people from Woodbury at the end of the last season I knew something 'bad' would happen cause they were setting themselves up to kill off a bunch of people without having to kill off main characters.

But I do think the mood and pacing has been better. Plus, you can't have a good pay off like this recent episode without a bit of a build to it. The slower the build, the more the anticipation, the better it is (within reason of course).

As for the guv', I did really like the actor, I just thought the writing around him, and the whole Woodbury set up, was poor and nonsensical at times. It was like how people have complained about the characters in this series being inconstant. But he did have some of the best scenes last season. It was just hard to get behind him, even as a villain as his motivations and even style seemed inconsistent.

We'll see if it gets any better this time around.
