It depends entirely upon what you consider an "above average prospect", and also on which prospects specifically you have in mind. They all develop a little differently.

Jankowski will not turn pro next year. He is only a month older than Monahan, and is only just now playing in his second season of elite-level juniour hockey. Last year, he made the jump from Quebec high-school prep hockey to college, and was one of the youngest players in the NCAA. Don't expect him to look to turning pro until 2015 at the earliest. Even then, because of his late development, he may opt to spend all four years in college.
I think that Poirier is a good bet to turn pro next year, and if he does, I also wouldn't be surprised to see him make the team out of camp. With his skill set, size, attitude, and the very important fact that he looks to be improving at an accelerated rate, he should be looking like a NHL regular by the 2015–16 season. Just a hunch, but I feel like he is going to be a fantastic player.
