This is why players should never be promissed anything. It just gives them an excuse when/if things don't work out. "Ohhh I wasn't given opportunity". That's a big pile of BS and we all know it. You were given a shot and were'nt doing enough to maintain it, sorry. This is professional sports. You only go as far as you're willing to work. It's like he didn't think he would have to step up his game in order to be a decent NHLer. You can't come in from the KHL and do the same things, train the same way, play the same way, and expect to be an impact NHL player.
And I actually liked Cervenka, I was willing to see what he could have done with a full summer of healthy training, but it sounds like he wouldn't come back anyways. And we have up and comers looking better than him anyways so it's moot.
