For some things, near the strip is ideal. Title fights, MMA, concerts, the NFR (if it plans on moving there), events where people are coming in specifically for those one off events.

But for any team to be there full time and make money it requires mostly locals, especially in the winter months there during the week, and locals I am guessing don't like driving anywhere near the Strip.

When we were down there in September when the Mayweather fight, cabbies were saying it would take an hour to move the two or three blocks around the MGM, with all the hubbub there. Parking would be a nightmare, moreso the ingress and egress from the parking that they build with the freeway locking them in on one side, the ultrabusy strip on the other.

Toss in the gambling issue/stigma that at least the NFL (NBA not far behind), and I don't think this is built with the express interest of adding a major pro sports team.
