Ridiculous. He's a young player. Players get better over time. If he's not a great NHLer right now, that doesn't mean he can't be one in a few years down the road.
You
have to think long-term for this team. Is it best for his development to sit every third game and watch as the team gets destroyed from the pressbox? There's nothing he can learn from watching anymore. He's had his fair share of injuries over the last 2 years... he knows what hockey is. He's not going to suddenly have an epiphany watching from 100 feet above.
Hockey is 90% mental. Confidence
is mostly everything. I'm not asking for the team to roll out the red carpet for him, but these moves (mistakes) are shortsighted and can (will) hurt the team in the long run.
Unfair treatment is not fair treatment just because he's a young player.
